CitiTap Begins Hybrid Solar Installation for a 1,200-Student School Campus in Abuja

By CitiTap Group

Some project announcements are just numbers. This one has a bell schedule attached. CitiTap Energy Solutions has commenced a hybrid solar installation project for a 1,200-student school campus in Abuja — a system designed so that exams, laboratories and evening prep no longer depend on the mood of a diesel generator.

The Solar Installation Project at a Glance

  • Client: a private secondary school campus, Abuja (name withheld at client’s request until commissioning)
  • Scope: rooftop solar PV array, lithium battery storage and intelligent generator integration
  • Design basis: a two-week energy audit measuring actual load across teaching, boarding and administrative blocks
  • Timeline: commissioning scheduled within the next school term

Why the Audit Came First

Before a single panel was specified, our certified auditors measured the campus’s real consumption — not the nameplate ratings, the actual load profile. Schools are unusual energy users: demand spikes at assembly and lights-out, and collapses during holidays. Sizing for reality rather than folklore is why our systems neither underperform nor overcharge the client.

What Changes for the School

Today, the campus runs generators for up to nine hours a day. After commissioning, solar carries the daytime load, batteries carry the evening, and the generator becomes what it should always have been — a backup. The school projects a substantial reduction in diesel expenditure, funds it intends to redirect into laboratory equipment. We can think of no better use.

Delivered by the Wider Group

True to our integrated model, CitiTap Logistics is handling equipment haulage while our Project Management division supervises installation against a fixed milestone schedule. One group, one accountable timeline.

This solar installation project reflects a wider truth: Nigeria’s institutions do not lack ambition, they lack reliable power — the SEforALL data on school electrification makes sobering reading. If your school, hospital or campus is ready to retire its generator, book a free energy assessment and we will measure before we promise.
