ABUJA, NIGERIA — The CitiTap Foundation today announced a significant expansion of its vocational training programme, adding new trade tracks and additional places in partnership with community leaders and local artisans.

What the Vocational Training Programme Expansion Covers

The expanded programme introduces structured training tracks in solar installation basics, tailoring and garment production, digital skills, and building trades — each combining hands-on instruction with foundational business skills such as pricing, record-keeping and customer management. Graduates leave with a trade and the practical means to earn from it.

Why Skills, Why Now

Youth unemployment and underemployment remain among Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, with the National Bureau of Statistics consistently reporting elevated rates among young people. “A certificate without a pathway is a souvenir,” the Foundation’s programme lead noted. “We are building pathways: train, equip, connect to market.”

Programme Structure

  • Practical instruction delivered with experienced local trainers
  • Business fundamentals embedded in every track
  • Starter support for top-performing graduates
  • Mentorship connections drawn from across CitiTap Group’s divisions

Community Partnership Model

Selection is run with community leadership to ensure places reach those who will use them, with particular encouragement for young women’s participation. The Foundation’s wider portfolio — education, health outreach, agriculture support and humanitarian response — continues alongside the expansion.

About the CitiTap Foundation

The CitiTap Foundation is the social development arm of CitiTap Group, operating on the conviction that business success and community transformation are complementary priorities. Its programmes span education and skills, women and youth empowerment, agriculture and food security, health, and humanitarian support.

Organisations interested in funding places or co-hosting the vocational training programme can partner with the Foundation.
